Open Positions
Ophthalmic Assistant - Beckley Office
Responsible for daily patient care and flow. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care. Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage needed. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment required. Ability to communicate with patients, coworkers and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.
- Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.
- Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing.
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, symptoms, etc.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used, and reports to supervisor if not in working condition.
- Assists in prepping patients for procedures in the office.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of eye diseases.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used, and reports to nurse/clinical supervisor if not in working condition.
- Review medical record for labs or test results ordered at previous visit; obtain if not in NexTech.
- Open imaging studies for physician to review after placing patient in an exam room – OCT, fluorescein angiogram and ultrasound.
- Orates exam to physician and makes modifications.
- Monitor patient flow by directing physicians to the next patient.
- Set up exam rooms and ensure that they are clean, organized, stocked with necessary medications, supplies, instrument and forms.
- Schedule patient appointments with other physicians.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Monitors supplies in screening rooms regularly.
