Scott C. Jamerson, MD, FACS

Originally from the Canadian Rockies, I moved to Charleston when I was 5 years old, and consider myself an adopted West Virginian. I graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering, and worked as an engineer at Union Carbide in South Charleston for four years before changing career paths. After graduating from the Marshall University School of Medicine, I completed ophthalmology training at the West Virginia University Eye Institute, serving as Chief Resident my final year. Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship was completed at Retina Specialists of Ohio, and I joined Retina Consultants upon completion in 2011.
As a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology , the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Retinal Specialists, with board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology, I actively pursue continuing medical education to ensure that I stay current with emerging medical therapies and surgical techniques. My vitreoretinal interests include retinal detachment and macular hole surgeries, and laser treatments to minimize the burden of intravitreal injections.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, and learning new skills. In the last few years, I have earned my private pilot's license, and become a certified member of the National Ski Patrol. My next goal is to begin cooking classes.
Success is measured by how many people's lives are better for having met you. This is the mantra by which I try to live every day, and that extends to the relationships I forge with my patients. I make a conscious effort to answer every question my patients ask, because I want them to be educated and feel comfortable in the therapeutic relationship we build together— Dr. Jamerson
