Mostafa Mafi, M.D.

Dr. Mostafa Mafi is a fellowship-trained retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon dedicated to providing advanced medical and surgical care for patients with retinal diseases.
He earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, the most prestigious medicalĀ university in Iran, where he was admitted with a top nationwide entrance examination score. He subsequently completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Farabi Eye Hospital, the country's premier referral center for ophthalmic care, education, and research.
Following fellowship training, he practiced as a retina specialist in metropolitan Tehran for four years, caring for a high volume of patients with complex retinal diseases and performing thousands of successful retinal surgeries.
To further advance his expertise, Dr. Mafi completed two years of advanced clinical and research fellowship in medical and surgical retina at the renowned UCLA Stein Eye Institute, where he trained alongside internationally recognized leaders in the field. He subsequently served as a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester's Flaum Eye Institute, participating in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases while collaborating with and learning from expert retina specialists.
Dr. Mafi is actively involved in clinical research and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact ophthalmology journals. He has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, and is a member of both organizations.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mafi enjoys playing tennis, travelling and spending time in nature. He values the natural beauty and strong sense of community in West Virginia and is honored to serve patients throughout the region.
